MBA PROGRAMS QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS STANDARDIZATION FOUNDED ON COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH

Abstract

The global lifelong learning trends have actualized the growing popularity of adult education designed to promote hereditary connection and meaningful unity of all educational elements in human development throughout life. Business schools make a significant contribution to the growth of aggregated intellectual capital. The increase of players in this educational services market segment does not guarantee the appropriate quality of educational programs. The adult education market is transforming and needs unified approaches to ensuring the quality of services provided. The article aims to develop a conceptual framework for providing quality education for adults through a unified approach to the learning goals achievement in MBA programs through the general integrative competencies’ development. The research methods: abstract-logical and analogy for literature review; comparative analysis – to compare adult education international standards with local educational realia; periodic observation, questionnaire survey, and data collection – to study the expectations of entrants and students in MBA programs; analysis, synthesis, and structural grouping – to form clusters of general integrative competencies of MBA students. The domestic adult education market peculiarities and the international standard-setters qualification requirements for the MBA programs components were studied. The unified general integrative competencies list for the MBA program was developed. The proposed competency approach to the design of educational programs will simultaneously ensure alignment with the national standards of higher education, compliance with the accreditation requirements of international standard-setting organizations, and compliance of the goals and program learning outcomes with entrants’ expectations. Achievement of the purposes of education through the development of the offered general integrative competencies in MBA programs will promote standardization of qualification requirements and enhancement of efficiency of adult education.
